Planting the Seed to Grow Community

We were so excited to launch our new Foundation for Community Wholeness to the community last summer at the 1st Annual Fredericksburg Diving Championship.  Our intent and focus was to promote the idea of starting a community garden.  Many people expressed support through kind words and donations, encouraging us to continue our hope for building community through local gardens.  And then came the severe drought and 100 days of 100 degree temperatures.  We felt the heat drain the wind from our sails.  With the severe water shortage we knew we couldn't continue this path at this time.

But this Spring brought the rain and with it new hope for us continuing our efforts to encourage growing connections on the soil we all share.  In March we launched Reel to Real.  A monthly documentary film series, presenting ideas to inspire healthy living.  Currently our focus is on the garden.  Encouraging you to grow your own garden, participate in or start a neighborhood garden, and support your local farmers.  Our new film is called Hungry for Change, and will definitely inspire you to look at the way you eat and the way you feed your family.  Our guest speaker will be Susan Sexton, a holistic health coach from Lubbock, Texas.  Susan believes nutrition not only comes from what we put in our mouth, but how we nourish our soul and desire for community.    Reel to Real will be at Woerner Feed, March 10 from 6:30-9:00. Film starts at 7:00.  Please join us and support us as we plant the seed to grow community.
